One Very Important Word

I read a story recently about a king and his many princesses...

Selected.
Empowered.
/
Powerful.
Exquisitely beautiful.

Through a special method, they were granted the king's special power, but none, was of the king's blood. They were "adopted".

They are an existence, which at times, defend the authority of the king.
At other times, they are worshiped by the citizens.
However, none descended of the king's blood...

A number of conditions were also given to them by the king...

They must not marry.
They must not have any children.
They must not have any sexual relationships with anyone.

It's given, such that to prevent the danger of unregulated spreading of power.

Thus they are always referred to thus - "Shoes displayed in the king's showcase."
Although beautiful, no one can take them out to wear.

There's a story of one such lady who was selected to become a princess.
She rose quickly, proving her strength.

Yet soon after, she fell in forbidden love...

They shared the love secretly, but shortly, the female became pregnant.
She wouldn't give up the baby and swore to give birth...

The two ran away and lived in secrecy, rearing the child.

The king, after hearing such news, became furious and ordered the other princesses to execute them.
They were soon found, and killed.

One question.
Why would she choose the road of misfortune?
Why?...

In the couple's lives, they bicker every hour, every day.
The man wasn't rich, and couldn't afford to buy the very expensive things that she wanted, and so often, that was the cause of their argues.

One day, before the fateful event, the child asked her beautiful mother,
"Mom, why did you marry daddy? Every day, you... no, every hour you say: if only you didn't marry daddy, you'd get to wear pretty clothes everyday and only eat luxury food like a princess.

And you would have been the greatest heart-throb among all the handsomest men.

'If only I didn't get scammed by that good-for-nothing'.

Everyday... no, every hour you'd say this."

"Man, I should really watch my mouth," slapped the mother on her forehead, and she smiled and reply, "Right, mother was totally scammed and he is totally a scammer." (That was her answer)

Why? Why would her mother choose to undress her dressing of glory, choose to face all the hardships, and all the suffering?
Why would she choose such a path of misfortune?

The daughter, after relieving the flashes of memories of her father and mother in her head, of all that she remembered, replied only 3 words.

"Mom was happy."
